František Vízner was one of the most significant Czech glassmakers of the 2nd half of the 20th century. After studying at the Academy of Arts in Prague (with Prof. Štipl, Plátek and Bauch) Vízner focused on designing moulded glass at the new Art Centre in Sklounion Teplice. There between 1962 - 1967 he designed a series of successful pieces, which constituted a part of the production programme for many years. In 1967 he moved to a glass factory in Škrdlovice, where during the next ten years he realised cca. 250 of his own kiln-formed glass designs. Many of these realisations were to became the icons of the postwar glass designs. In 1977 Vízner built his own glass workshop in Žďár nad Sázavou and stopped designing for industrial production so that he could start to focus on his studio work. His work was characterised by the cut-shaped objects that he designed. In 1996, the author has established cooperation with the Moser glassworks. The choice of this factory was logical for him - he had been looking for a glassworks that would meet his requirements for the highest quality both of the glass material and of the craftsmanship of its processing. He designed several bowls and vases for the Moser glassworks; the Linea Vase is one example of his individual glass creations.
